Escalators, Revolving Doors, & Elevators

Everyone should run up a down escalator at least once.  Be ware though, escalators are very dangerous if played on (I felt the need to protect myself there for the six year old reading this...)  I've also learned, more than once, that it's never a good thing to be looking the wrong direction chatting away with someone while on an escalator.  Again, escalators can be dangerous!

Did you know that in the entire state of Wyoming there is not a single escalator?  That's right folks.  I simply do not understand why people persist to bug me about being from Iowa.  I mean, we have numerous escalators in Iowa!  In Chicago there are even escalators in their famous downtown library!  When my niece visited me in Chicago several years ago we didn’t have to take her to the Sear’s Tower, we just entertained her with all those escalators at the Chicago Public Library! (Yep, we’re Dutch...)

You know another tidbit I learned about Wyoming during my two year stay there?  There isn't a single revolving door there, which is truly quite a shame as revolving doors can provide lasting entertainment! I never ever ever tire of cramming into the same space at the last moment just as the revolving door disappears!  The awkwardness and laughs are continually entertaining, even if to none other than myself.

In Chicago I began something I still enjoy doing to this day, and encourage each of you to do as well!  When walking into a crowded elevator, turn away from the door and just start chatting with everyone.  Really, it's lot of fun!  Some people think you’re absolutely nuts and are embarrassed for you (they’re usually your friends...) while for others it’s obviously the highlight of their day.

The next time you find yourself in an elevator, preferably one that’s not too crowded, take a giant leap into the air right as it starts to move.  If you time it right it’s pretty cool.  Maybe that’s why the elevators in college were always broken though....

My only regret with each of these is none are documented with photos or video.  I guess that just means I’ll have to do each of them again!!!

Now, please go out and do the same but remember to take pictures and videos so you can share with me!!!
