"For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life [soul] and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart." 4:12
My God is a relational God.
He wants to spend time with me.
I can come - just as I am -
boldly to Him.
He knows me. (Psalm 139)
He knows: the crud, the pride,
the selfishness, the fear, the insecurities, the secrets
no one else knows
- sometimes not even I know -
until He lays them out before me for reveal and I listen.
"And not a creature exists that is concealed from His sight, but all things are open and exposed, naked and defenseless to the eyes of Him with Whom we have to do." v.13
Everything about me is laid bare and wide open to my Papa.
My all-seeing, all-knowing, all-powerful, living and active Daddy.
I cannot hide anything from Him even
when I try to hide things from even myself.
“Inasmuch then as we have a great High Priest Who has [already] ascended and passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession [of faith in Him]." v.14
My hope is in Him. I long for Him. He is LOVE. He is KIND. He is SALVATION.
Transformation
- genuine, authentic, life-changing -
comes from Him alone.
"For we do not have a High Priest Who is unable to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weaknesses and infirmities and liability to the assaults of temptation, but One Who has been tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning." v. 15
My God is intimately involved in
every single detail of my life. Itty-bitty or gargantuous.
He is here. Right now.
"Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures]..." v. 16
I am free to fail.
I. AM. FREE.
"...and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it]." v.16
My Heavenly Father extends mercy and grace
to me in my time of need.
My King forgives my sins. All of them!
Those I knowingly and those I unwittingly commit.
He answers prayers. MY prayers!
He hears and listens to my cries for help.
Oh how awesome is He!
I wait expectantly; trusting Him. He is faithful!
For my God is true to ALL - yes every last one - of His promises.
There is NO ONE like MY GOD and I will praise Him!
