This past Sunday I was trying to figure out what to do with myself as I rested for a while. Imagine pacing back-and-forth in your head while simultaneously walking in circles (also in your head!) The only thing I was succeeding at was quickly getting overwhelmed with my own reflections!
Thoughts raced of:
- all that has happened this past year
- how far I still have to go to get back to 100%
- disappointment and frustration of not being 100% yet
- how far I've come
- tears of the struggles
- tears of the surprising joys amidst those struggles (yep, I was a tad emotional!)
- what I have learned
- what I am still waiting to find out I've learned
With ALL those thoughts, how is one to sit down and just BE?
Then I was reminded of my three favorite Psalms throughout this season.
Declarations that have been needed over and over and over again:
A promise:
"For in the day of trouble
he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his
sacred tent and set me high upon a rock."
Psalm 27:5
A reminder:
"My heart says of you,
“Seek his face!”
Your face, Lord, I will seek."
Psalm 27:8
A challenge:
"Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord."
Psalm 27:14
A song:
“I will extol the Lord at all times;
his praise will always be on my lips.
I will glory in the Lord;
let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
Glorify the Lord with me;
let us exalt his name together.
I sought the Lord, and he answered me;
he delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame.”
Psalm 34:1-5
A proclamation:
“Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.”
Psalm 34:8
An encouragement:
“Take delight in the Lord,
Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this.”
Psalm 37: 3-5
A little bit of laughter (think about it...) mixed with Truth:
“The Lord makes firm the steps
of the one who delights in him;
though he may stumble, he will not fall,
for the Lord upholds him with his hand.”
Psalm 37:23-24
What a pleasure to be met right where we're at through the power of God's Word!
Much truth and wisdom in those words.
