I know it's way past the New Year, but I figured it's high time to talk about my thirty-six hour getaway in Wyoming!

You guys, I didn't know what to do! What does one do when they can't ski, hike, climb, or anything active. It took some brainstorming, but I finally figured it out: mountain views and a hot tub for some major R&R.
Wyoming came through!
Did ya'll know I lived in Wyoming in what seems like another lifetime ago? I was even looking at purchasing a home there and putting down roots. Then, things took an unexpected turn, as they so often do, and I landed in Colorado. It’s been about ten years since I’ve been back to Wyoming with nothing but beautiful memories before me.
The familiar drive welcomed me with rolling hills, winding roads, and wind that gave me an arm workout keeping my vehicle from going off the road.
I saw my first herd of antelope and reminisced. Have you ever had antelope? It was a staple in Wyoming. Cooked correctly, it’s perfect with eggs in the morning!
I was well on my way to Bugling Elk Trail in search of the quaint Tiny Little Cabin to spend a quiet overnight.
I made a pit stop to see a friend in Fort Collins who pointed out from the Airbnb site the bathroom was in the main house. “No, it’s attached to the cabin! The porta potty looks like it’s for posterity.” Umm...she was right. I was wrong. Typical.
Apart from the porta potty disappointment which I did NOT use, the trip was exactly what I needed: a small quiet mountain home, views for days, a cozy cabin without mice, a stunning gazebo seemingly incomplete without a bride and groom, no cell reception, and a hostess who was born to be in the hospitality industry.
2. Watching the sunrise while my lovely hostess continually came out to refill my coffee.

The cabin was far tinier and more eccentric than anticipated, but my hostess was far more friendly and thoughtful than anticipated! My AirBnB ended up being a bed and breakfast! She, even treated me to crab legs in the evening! Mmmm Good!

My little retreat reignited my love for Wyoming. Simple. Unique. It's the perfect combination of Iowa and Colorado: small town feel, friendly people, and mountains galore!
When the R&R life comes with 360 views, I am ALL in!
Wyoming....you have my heart once again.
