It's Getting Real

Here we go...surgery is set for this coming Monday, May 18th at 12:30pm. It will be the first of two lung and diaphragm surgeries. My surgeon said this will be three in one:

1. Explore both sides of the lungs and diaphragm.
2. Remove the air pocket in my left lung.
3. Remove endo attached to my left lung/diaphragm.

I'm going to be super real and say this surgery has me nervous in ways I don't recall ever experiencing. The risks are significant, but my surgeon is great. Bonus, he got into surgery after being a rather BA climber. A friend of his took a nasty fall while they were climbing and he couldn't do anything to help. Thus, he quit climbing, went back to school and became a sought after surgeon.

Due to this, I asked a dear friend if she'd print some photos for me to take to him. You know, to remind him not to paralyze me or dig too deep in my lungs (Ya'll think I'm joking, but those are the exact words I am going to tell him when I give him those photos!)

I already showed him how awesome my other surgeon was at making my scars very faint. No lady wants to have a chest scar, folks, so this was OBVIOUSLY one of my very first questions. Priorities!  He was wowed by my other surgeon's work and, I do believe, I did my job well because he said it'll be tough to compete with her but he'll try his best. Let the friendly competition from one surgeon to another commence. I hope he wins, in part because the other surgeon's bedside manner stunk!

Here are the pics I'm giving him. I'd better see pics of them hanging on a glass for all the surgeons operating to see from the OR. Kidding. Kinda. Not really.

I'm sure you've seen them before, but there sure are some incredible memories here and I'm in need of some sweet memories to think on and look forward to right now.  Thanks for humoring me!
