Today has me thinking of this man...

He's a cutie, right? My cousins and I have all decided Grandma sure found herself a handsome man!
Recently I've gotten the pleasure of spending a lot of time with my grandparents. They're pretty great.
It's a good thing we like to look at old pictures together. My aunt delegated a job for Grandpa and I to go through his army photos and scan them into the computer for the family. What a process!
He and Grandma married when Grandpa was in the army. They married in Pella then were in Colorado Springs for a brief period before being transfered to Ft. Leonard Wood in Missouri. Grandma's always been wistful about what life would have looked like had they been able to stay in Colorado Springs.
He went off to serve in the Korean War shortly after they wed, sending Grandma these photos.
After scanning nearly twenty photos of his jeep and tractor into the computer, we could tell that clearly was his pride and joy. Grandpa started shaking his head saying, "We don't need another jeep picture."
Grandpa is a quiet man. I have often make it a personal goal to keep him on the phone with me longer than he'd been the time before. Sometimes I won.

The ship they took back to the United States |
Thank you, Grandpa, and those reading, for serving our country. For acting in complete and utter selflessness to protect the freedoms we have as citizens of the United States of America.
How I pray we begin to wake up and act as "one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
